On January 30th 2024, the Society for International Development (SID) organized a workshop in Geneva titled “The Surging Pandemic of Health and Food financialization” with the aim to shed lights on the growing and unregulated trends of financialization in these two separate but interconnected arenas.

Her insights highlighted a recurring issue where countries, even when endeavoring to enact national-level tax laws, encounter legal battles initiated by powerful corporations. This dynamic has presented a substantial barrier to effective taxation and revenue generation at the national level.

From April 22 to 25 2024, SID’s Economic Justice team participated at the UN Financing for Development Forum held at the UN Headquarters in New York. This annual forum is crucial as it is an intergovernmental process with universal participation mandated to review the Addis Agenda.
